Publishing to Community
Share your work with the Omnilib community by publishing Markdown documents in three steps.
Turn any Markdown document into a community post. The publish flow guides you through adding metadata, previewing your content, and choosing between publishing immediately or saving as a draft.
Starting the publish flow
Open the Markdown file you want to publish and click the Publish button in the editor toolbar. This opens a three-step modal.
Step 1 — Fill in metadata
Provide the details that help readers find and understand your post:
- Title — The headline shown in the community feed. Defaults to your document's first heading.
- Category — Choose the most relevant category for your content.
- Tags — Add up to five tags to improve discoverability.
- Cover image — Upload an optional cover image shown in feed previews.
Step 2 — Preview
Review how your post will appear to readers. Omnilib generates a URL slug from your title and displays it here. If you want a different slug, go back to Step 1 and adjust the title.
Check that formatting, images, and embedded content render correctly in this preview before continuing.
Step 3 — Publish or save as draft
- Click Publish to make the post publicly visible in the community feed immediately.
- Click Save as draft to store the post without publishing. You can return and publish it later from the draft management panel.
Editing published posts
Open the published document and click Publish in the toolbar again. The same three-step modal opens, pre-filled with your existing metadata. Make your changes and click Update to save the new version. The post URL remains unchanged.
Draft management
Access your unpublished drafts from your profile page or the Drafts section in the community sidebar. From there you can:
- Open a draft to continue editing
- Publish a draft directly
- Delete a draft
Content requirements
Posts must meet a minimum length before they can be published. Omnilib shows a character count and highlights when you reach the minimum. Drafts can be saved at any length.
Omnilib checks for duplicate posts when you publish. If the content is too similar to an existing post from your account, you will be prompted to review before proceeding.
